If you’re looking to keep costs down, check for hotels with special offers, e.g. free nights, but ensure your arrival day applies. Try to avoid Eurotunnel or Ferry travel before 2pm from the UK and if you can, return before 1pm from the continent. If travelling with Eurostar, be aware that ticket prices can rise as trains fill, so book as early as possible and if you can be flexible with journey times that can help us find you better value seats.

There’s so much to discover in St Omer throughout its ancient alleyways and courtyards, it also has beautiful gardens to the west of the town and an interesting Marais area which is a network of Flemish waterways and marshland with regular boat trips which take about an hour.

The town has a lively Saturday morning market which is well worth a visit, and afterwards you can eat at one of the town’s many gourmet restaurants. From one of many coffee shops, sit outside on a spring or summer’s day and soak up the ambience of this gorgeous little town.
